2023 is a momentous year for PlayStation. For starters, the ninth generation has taken off (finally!) and now it's time to give content to those more than 30 million PS5 sold. But things go further: Sony's plans go through a PS4 and a PlayStation VR 2 that aims to revolutionize the way we interact with video games. Today technology is no longer a problem, but your catalog will be what determines your success . With this panorama, the question asks itself: what are we going to play?
At VidaExtra we have selected, gathered and organized the most outstanding PlayStation releases for 2023 in one place. Those of PS5, of course, but also those of a PS4 that has surprises yet to come. And, of course, the first batch of titles that will cement the new generation of virtual reality on PlayStation VR 2 . Each game accompanied by its trailer, its date (if any) and a text with our signature.
From here, one last point: how we have organized this summary of 2023 on PlayStation. To do this, and as in the Original Adventure , we have divided the text into two parts, so that:
- At the beginning you will find the games with a fixed release date ordered by release, accompanied by our impressions or analysis as they are published.
- Finally, you will find those releases without an established date in alphabetical order, which -logically- will naturally go to the first group during the course of the year.
Of course, this initiative is much more than just a list. On the one hand, it is complemented by our traditional selections of the best of each year and the best PS5 and PS4 games. As we discussed, we'll be updating the text by adding new games, the latest trailers, and adding games on a regular basis so that it continues to be the best reference when it comes to finding the best PlayStation games or, even better, your next console adventure.
Without further ado, here are the best and most anticipated games coming to PlayStation throughout 2023 , including two new mainline Final Fantasy installments and the highly anticipated return of Insomniac Games' Spider-Men. Go making space on your console, because you are going to need it.
One Piece Odyssey
In a year in which the PlayStation consoles will be filled with good JRPGs, the first hit on the table is given by Luffy and his nakamas: One Piece Odyssey invites us to live a new story created expressly by Eiichiro Oda in which the Straw Hats They return to their best adventures. What more could you want?
Monster Hunter Rise
Fierce beasts and colossal in size. Weapons and armor awesome in shape and size and a new ingredient to Capcom's epic hunting formula: ninjutsu techniques. After conquering us on Switch and PC, Monster Hunter Rise reaches the desktop to be crowned as what it always was: the best game in the saga.
Forspoken
In a year in which Square Enix will throw itself into blockbusters for the next-generation PlayStation, Forspoken will be its first hit on the table. A huge display of ambition that drinks from the isekai theme and bears the signature of the studio responsible for Final Fantasy XV.
dead space
Horror, science fiction and video games have always been a winning combination. If, in addition, it is the new arrival of a cult classic with a completely updated technical section and more visceral elements, it is difficult to resist. The Dead Space saga was crying out for a return and its EA remake asks from the first trailer to be played with the lights off.
Hogwarts Legacy

Electronic Arts and Koei Tecmo join forces to take on Monster Hunter on their home ground. The counterpoint to Wolfenstein ? Rather, a new excuse to fill the screen with sparks and explosions.
Horizon Call of the Mountain
- Available February 22 on PS5The video game that will serve as an ambassador for PlayStation VR 2 is, in turn, the first major Spin-Off of the expanding Horizon Zero Dawn saga . One designed to be experienced through the eyes of a new protagonist in the most literal sense of the expression. Of course, we will be in the best company: Aloy will help us throughout the adventure.
Octopath Traveler II

The luscious allure of classic 2D-HD RPG is coming to PlayStation desktops in the sequel to the must-have Octopath Traveler . Eight protagonists who will intertwine their destinies in the same irresistible adventure for those who are nostalgic for the JRPG of a lifetime.

- Koei Tecmo has taken 2023 very seriously and, in the process, has let Team Ninja let their hair down when it comes to recapturing the essence of dark fantasy action games. Comparisons to the Ninja Gaiden saga are inevitable, of course, but the makers of Nioh and Dead or Alive have learned a lot since the glory days of Ryu Hayabusa.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
